The Henry Ford museum and Greenfield Village are at the top of the list. Not so much car related, but the Detroit Museum of Art is well worth a visit.

Stahl's Automotive Museum is well worth it. In Chesterfield, about 15 miles north of Detroit. It is open on Thursday Night for cruise night and museum tours. The Ford Piquette museum is also good.

Blight and hoodrats. But the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn will take you away from all that and is a must see.

Telegraph Rd. cruise is Saturday the 27th. If thousands of classic and race cars interest you. Its like a smaller Woodard without Royal Oak cops. The Main part of the cruise is between Michigan Ave. and Eureka Rd.

Not necessarily. Every year car(s) and trailer(s) get stolen at the Detroit Autorama. I don't consider that "a bad rap".

Just so you know if you decide to go to both the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village you’ll need about two days. |

If you want to get a good look at the museum without running through it, you will need 2 days just to see that. Greenfield is a boring waste of time unless they have their annual brass era car show.

If you are up for a little drive: the Gilmore Museum in Hickory Corners.
Stop by and see Scott Tiemann in Portage on the way. K

A lot of stuff is visible just from driving around (ie, Ford's Highland Park plant, the old Packard plant ruins, the Packard Proving Ground, Ford industrial villages, Auto Baron homes, etc).
Let me know if you are up for it and I'll send you some details. K |

Uh, I am not making jokes here but don't you need bodyguards for many of those places today? I know that I would not be going into that Packard area without packing some lead.

Not sure what scrap prices are currently for brass, but you could fill up a few 5 gallon pails and cash em in

A girlfriend of mine took me on a Detroit tour of ALL of those things plus more a year and a half ago (she’s a native). We drove all over and saw all sorts of interesting places. No one batted an eye or cared, although a few places did have some sketchy characters on the porch or walking down the road, but none of them approached us or the car. We did not get out and walk around obviously and I’d highly advise not going at night or late evening. Neither of us carry and the car was not flashy or fast.

Isn't Gilmore the largest automotive museum out there?
