I am new here and I am wondering what my 1/4 mile time will be (approx) this year. Last year I ran a 14.1 with a one wheel-peeler with 2:78's in my '68 LeMans with a stall speed of 2500. Among other things, I switched to a 12 bolt posi with 4:10's and a stall speed of 3800 and I estimate the hp around 450 with DOT tires and no fiberglass other than the seats and stack wieght near 3300. Thanks.

How about listing more complete specs on the car (engine size, heads, cam, exhaust, etc.) so we can give you our **best** guess.

Let's go racing!

Sounds like my first 1/4 mile experience a long time ago, I ran 14.29 with a open rearend! switched to 4.56 gears($100 from another racer) and went 13.75. I enjoyed the numerically high rear gears even though they're a little too much. Hard to say what will happen to you, but after 2.2 60 foots not changing. I bought M&H Racemasters. A 455 and soft tires will start breaking the trans, the rear and bending the car and you should be in the mid 12s.

With the right tuning and tires I don't see anything holding you back from some mid to low 12's! Good luck!

What was your mph through the traps? It will give you a pretty good idea of what it will run because the speed doesn't seem to be effected by gears or traction as much as e.t. I would say if it ran 100= 13.5, 105=12.80-13.0, 110= 12.2-12.8, 115=11.8-12.2 These are just guesses based on what my car used to run. as far as hp goes I know my car has 364hp at the rear wheels, they say to add 20-30 percent for the auto trans to get the at the crank numbers. The car runs 11.59@117.2 but then I've also seen cars make 500 at the wheels and run slower with a lower mph. So I guess there is only one way to find out, HEAD FOR THE TRACK!

The engine is a '71 400 bored 60 over with '70 #13 heads that are pocket ported and 3 angle valve job with comp around 9.5. Lunati bracket master 2 cam with 230 and 292/292 (hydraulic)Performer intake, Holley 750 carb, HEI dist, headers, Th 400 trans. Last year with the old set up I went 14.1 at 100 flat in the 1/4. This years set up takes off like a rocket, although with the tires I have give NO traction what so ever off the line, I will be using a set of similar tires that are bald (at the track only) since I have no money for good tires at the current time.

With a 100 MPH trap speed I see mid to low 13s with good traction using the 4.10 gears and 3800 converter. I would guess your engine is making around 350 to 375 real HP, an engine making 450 would trap closer to 110 MPH. With some careful tuning your engine may have close to 400 HP hiding in it.

I drive a mild 325-350 HP 8.2:1 comp. 455 daily (lower link in sig). It runs 13.899@101.85MPH on a 2.56 open rear/TH400 on 235/45-17s, with a full tank of 87 octane and a spare tire/big ice chest in the trunk. The car is a heavy 3750+# '64 Tempest. It has a bench seat, big 1-3/8" sway bars and very heavy 12" discs/B-body spindles/17X8" steel wheels (57# mounted)including a spare tire.

Sixty-foot times are a slow 2.25 seconds since I use a very easy launch technique so I don't boil the hide(s). Swapping to a 2.93 gear didn't help the ET or MPH. The car uses a 13" Continental converter, stall is at most near 2500. If this car had posi and good tires so I could hammer it I may see mid or even low 13s, even though it is handicapped with a road-race type suspension.

I bracket race a 425-450 HP 8.6:1 455 (upper link in sig) in a 3330# (with 3/4 tank of 91 octane) '64 GTO. With excellent traction (1.668 sec. 60') and 3.89 gears/10X28 slicks it ran 12.055@110.29, with 3.25 gears it was only 3 to 4 tenths slower. I use a transbraked TH400/10" Continental in this car, flashes at 3500.

You need proper tires for a good ET, especially with a higher stall converter and low gears. As soon as you can afford some you will see some good ET slips. Good luck!

Let's go racing!

Thanks all, I am new here and never had a car with potential before, but I've always had Pontiacs (A-bodies), and I am learning fast.
