I am rebuilding a 65 GTO Conv and when I received it I also got the following.

YE Block with 143 Heads (67 400)
25K6 Block with 9773345 Heads (64 389)
16K Block (63 389)
9775088 TriPower (Needs Hot Tank)
541690 TriPower with proper Rochesters completely redone.

Ok, do I want to rebuild any of these block/head combinations or do I need to start shopping? If I need to start shopping, what should I buy and where can I get it? Yeah, I'm a novice, but I can get it done. I sure could use a local GTO advisor.

I have a Saginaw 4 speed, but have already been told it won't hold up. I need a Muncie. M20 or M21? This will be a driver and I'd like around 360 HP and still be able to use 91-93 octane.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Ken

For good street performance the 400 block is a great starting point, none of the heads you have will support a 360 HP street build-up. Both of your Tri-Power intakes ('62 and '64) won't fit the '65 and later heads that you will need for a good street engine.

I live locally and have a few sets of '67 -'70 performance heads that may meet your needs. Send me an email if interested.

Can't help you much with blocks and heads but you need to know about the "New Muncies". Gear Zone Co; website www.5speeds.com, now makes a NEW Muncie with an improved aluminum case and mid point support system. I'm getting mine in about a week to replace a rebuilt one that I had a problem with. The one I yanked out a year ago when I bought the car had two of the four casing/bellhousing ears totally broken off. Costs for the New Muncie is about $400 over my "rebuilt" costs. You ought to check them out. I'll let you know about my New Muncie's progress
