If my block is already at zero deck is there any reason to surface the deck? If there is a need to surface the deck and it is at zero, is the block junk?

Any San Diego recommendations for a competent, quality machine shop in San Diego county? Just like getting second opinions about dovtors I want to get second and third opinions about machine shops.

You should be able to cut .002 to .004 and not worry about it. So you have -.004 out the hole. It makes for better quench too.
