Can Am Air Filter Housing
Does a Can am with Pontiac 400 engine use a Lemans/Grand Prix style A/F housing OR the Trans am drop base type?
I believe the shaker is specific to Can Am with 400?

Can Ams use the LeMans/GP base.
1977 Trans Am: Note the short breather tube from the valve cover to the air cleaner base. 1977 Can Am: Note the longer and bent breather tube going from the valve cover to the air cleaner base. The breather filter opening is also located in a different location than the F body air cleaner base. The shaker scoop metal base that is riveted to the scoop is Can Am specific, and also specific depending on if powered by Olds 403 or W72 Pontiac. The plastic fiber scoop is the same as 1970-76 Trans Am/ 1974 GTO.

Just curious to know if you've ever compared the Can Am shaker to the 74 OTG shaker?
I would bet the metal adaptor plate is the same or similar.
