My son has inherited my illness.
Tonight my son sent me this picture. He recently bought a home in the country, surrounded by farm land. Today he was talking with a neighbor’s son. Conversation turned to cars, which led to “look at what my Dad has in the barn”.
Tonight my son cannot contain himself about the original owner ‘66 ragtop Goat in the barn next door. He has all ready made an offer to buy it, and has not gotten any closer than this picture. |

Judging by the dust, it's not going anywhere too soon. He can hide his excitement and pay off the house first.

Whatever you do Steve, don't let him show them any photos from your restorations. Once they see one looking that good, they're going to want to hold on to it....thinking, "I can do that"...

That car looks like it would clean up well and really nice that your son shares the interest. Sounds like he lives in a good place with rural roads to have and old car unlike my city slicker son

Where he lives makes for a nice area to drive a car like that. Lots of tree shaded secondary roads. Greg, an offer was also made to get it running for him if he doesn't want to sell it. The man's health is bad, so maybe his son could take him for a ride when he visits. My son would offer to do the same.
I tried to clean up the picture some. Maybe it will post correctly. |

Fontaine Blue. Bias ply tires. Been there awhile, but looks clean and rust free from what I can see.

My oldest son drives a Tesle Model Y.
Not a car guy.....but he does like the Tesla. My youngest son Daniel, 28, left his wedding in my GTO about 4 years ago and about 2 years ago, surprised me when he drove up to Tennessee and came home trailering a 70 (IIRC) Nova with a warm 350 small block under the hood. After a short period, he discovered a head gasket leaking anti-freeze (aluminum heads), so he took the opportunity to rebuild the 350. Something he had never done, but seems to have done quite well. The wife and I went to fathers day dinner with Daniel and his wife (pregnant, I'm going to be a granddad in Sept) last night and they talked kids and we talked cars.

The best of all possible worlds would be that your son gets the car running for the owner and he gets to at least have the experience of riding in, or maybe even driving the car again (if he's still able), and then eventually sells it to your son. Everyone wins in that scenario.
Now, why the owners son wouldn't want it is another question altogether.
