You can see the bearing supporting the steering shaft (near firewall) and the two U-joints. You can also see the spherical rod end for support.

I'm very pleased with how it turned out. My chassis guy does exceptional work. If anyone in SoCal needs some work done I highly recommend him (or you can ship your car out to him). After working on my car he is very familiar with the '61-'63 Tempest platform.

The mock up engine is a '72 455ho in case anyone is wondering. My highports have a slightly different exhaust port location so I have to wait until the engine is back before having him build the headers.

San Diego AutoFab in Southern California. His name is Matt.

I'm working on a website for them, but keep getting side tracked. Reminds me that I need to work on it again. Keep in mind that this is a rough draft. I'm still figuring out how I want to lay it out ---> http://www.superdutytempest.com/sdaf/

Gee if you can send a crossmemeber out to him how much woudl it cost to set it up? Does he need the whole assembly or just the main section?

Are you going to use the stock V8 motor mounts or a motor plate? I'm pretty sure it still clears the stock mounts without issue, just want to know what you're planning. $150-$200'ish labor to build the mounts and Tig weld everything up. He only needs the center section. All of the measurements will be pulled from my car.

Anyone else interested?

edit: After looking at more pics I don't see why stock motor mounts would be an issue here. Shouldn't be a problem

Where are you located? Maybe check on shipping rates? Shop is located in Ramona, CA 92065. I may be able to help you out if you end up shipping station to station. I could probably drop it off at the shop for you.

You're reasonably close to me. You're welcome to come down and check out my car any time you like. Maybe bring your K member with you and drop it off... or better yet bring the whole car and have him do some chassis/cage work for you. You wont be disappointed. He was limited on my car because he added to work I already had done by another shop. If he did one from scratch I have no doubt it would be even better than what I have (and my car is pretty sweet).

Do you think your fab guy could make the mounting brackets and I could weld them in myself versus sending the whole crossmember?

Sorry, I don’t make it here often. You’d have to ask him. I think he’d need to have the whole crossover to do it though. It’s been a while since he did mine. He does have a Facebook page. https://m.facebook.com/Funkhouser-Ra...6792421399191/

His name is Matt. Funkhouser Racecars phone number is 760-801-8596
