Default VIN # on the body

Can someone tell me where the vin can be found on the 69 GTO body?
I think it is on the fire wall near the heater box.
I bought a rolling body with NO tags at all, big hole were the Vin # was.
Please and Thanks!!!

I'm not sure about 69's, but there is no hidden VIN on early GTO's. There is a VIN on the frame; top of the frame rail, just behind the driver's side rear wheel.

Yep, no hidden VIN's. You should find a partial VIN on the drivers side rear side rail just after the wheel frame arch. It'll be about 3-4" back. Mine was on the side of the rail on my '68. Some are said to be on the top of the rail.

If you plan on putting it back on the road, I would contact your state's DMV and ask what they require. Most states can assign a new VIN in place of the original VIN so it can be registered and driven on the road again.

Thanks guys!
I am planning on parting it out.
I was told there is another car that now has the vin # from this car.
Hate to think someone bought a car with a switched vin and doesn't know.
I am cloning my Lemans into a GTO but not switching tags or trying to pass it off
as real.

Your car is a LeMans and someone put the VIN on another LeMans or Temest?
I have heard that some cars had the VIN stamped under the heater box but my '68 only had it on the topside ds frame rail.

My '69 Bird has 2 vins under the heater box!
One is correct, second one is 1 unit before.
When in doubt, ship her OUT!

I've got a 69 GTO with partial vin stamped upside down on the firewall right below the blower motor hole. you'd have to remove the heater box to see it.

Yes someone took a cut-off wheel and removed all of the metal around the tag!!!!
Its unbelievable! That's why I am sure that vin is on another car.(according to the guy I got it from)
Sad to for me because it is in better shape than the other 69 that I own that was given to me with no title, I was able to get a title for it pretty easy.

The fire wall is real rusty, don't think it could be found if it is there.
