Has anyone used them and what is your opinion of them?

Which series of the rockers they make are you asking about?

Thanks, looks like there may be some level of risk using them.

I asked one of our Pontiac suppliers about the PRW stainless rockers about two months ago and they said that they are still getting back a few warranty returns on the recent ones. Too bad because the build was extremely mild but needed the low profile of a stainless rocker and they would have been perfect.

If it's a mild build why not use the OEM stamped steel rockers they are very reliable and last forever.

You will NOT know if there are issues with the pins grinding up the inside of the rollers unless you remove them for inspection or you have a solid cam set-up and they get noisy shortly after setting the valve lash.

With the HR cam set-ups we installed them on the plungers just take up the travel and they continue to run quiet.

If you have a magnetic drain plug you will see considerably metal "toothpaste" on it with each oil change. This is the find ground up metal dust created when the overly hardened and "rough" finished pins start to eat up the inside of the rollers.

Every single set we used did this so we went another direction.

PRW claims that post 2010 they fixed the issues with them, but we've seen sets sold later than that timeframe still have these issues....FWIW......Cliff

I bought a set just before the issues with them became known. I had them installed and fired the engine with them and took them off. I went with Harland Sharp. I also noticed that the polylocks with the PRW's were problematic. On some of them I had to use a wrench to take up slack before final adjustment. I can normally do this by hand. The nuts from HS were smooth as silk. The build in AZ still has the PRW's on it. They will be changed either for HS or $Enduro's.
I also found that the PRW's sat higher than the HS's. I think it is because the horizontal center line distance between the fulcrum and tip roller on the PRW's is greater.

Cliff, really not much on the magnetic plug, looks pretty much clean...…….if I go with HS or with crower, do I have to change the push rods also...………..im thinking if everyone is having all these issues, ive had these in since 2010 with about 20 thou miles, shouldn't this motor be shot by now...……..

Thanks for the help guys.

I've also had these in my engine for about 10 yrs and never even thought about them as everything is running as it should. Maybe I'll check them when I have time. Maybe I will continue not thinking about them.

Picked up a set of Crower 1.7 aluminum rockers for 300$ on sale awhile back, might want to check.
