Default Ignition cylinder lock seems backwards

I bought a new steering column and put a new keyed cylinder lock in it, and somehow it's backwards. I have to turn it backwards to start the car LOL!

I'm suspecting it's the actual ignition wiring where the little metal rod goes into (whatever that is called).

Here's the real strange part, when I turn the key to start it on my old column, the rod goes forward, and when I turn the key on this new column, it pulls the rod backwards.

Could it be a faulty steering column? It's supposed to be a factory replacement for my old one, but it seems like a pretty big issue if that part is backwards :/.

Yes I did actually! You are a life saver. I didn't realize they were different.

The other problem I have is that I bought a Painless Wiring kit and the harness that connects to that are Chevy connectors, which are a little different than Pontiac. They recommended buying a new ignition switch rather than trying to figure out which terminal did what and rewire the harness.

So would it make sense for me to go to the auto parts store and buy the ignition switch for a chevy tilt column?

It looks like the lock plate cover is also different on the tilt column. There are no screw holes in the tilt column for my non-tilt lock plate cover.

Sort of odd that this column didn't come with a cover for the lock plate.

Sorry for all the posts here, but does this look correct? http://www.steeringcolumnservices.co...er-7819738.php

It says it fits tilt and non-tilt, but my non-tilt is different than my tilt so I'm not sure...hoping someone with more knowledge than me can help.

Thanks

I think that should work. Seems a little high on price though.

Thank you!! You're right on the price. I read through the thread you linked and they have one for $3! I searched for this but apparently was too focused on my problem to find this thread haha.

Thanks again for the help. These forums are such an amazing resource.
