Re: Pontiac 400-455 in 1993-2002 Firebird, Trans Am
Hey, how's it going?
I am new to this website but, I have been a Pontiac enthusiast for a long time. I was wondering what the possibility of putting a REAL Pontiac 400-455 in a 1993-2002 Firebird, Trans Am, Formula, and the 2004-2006 GTO. I know the easy way to go is an LS, but I had heard there were parts to make this swap a little easier. Possibly, motor mounts, headers, transmission mounts, etc. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. 1970gto400 |

You will have all kinds of clearance issues. The engine bay in those cars are set up for a non-carberated, non-distributor SBC and don't have room for much more. Then you have all the gauges dependant on several sensors, It would be a wiring nightmare but it can be done.

You can fit a Tall deck BBC in there, several ppl I know run the 4th gen in stock suspension racing. A pontiac is'nt a problem, header and steering clearance would be the issue. Got a 94 Z28 I've thought about the Pontiac swap. Oh, and alot of guys trim the cowl back to the windshiels and run an "extended" hood. I see butler kept theres fairly stock.
