New Personal Best - 462 Pontiac
As the title says, made my new personal best pass on last Friday night at TNT.
I ran a 1.49 to the 60' and 7.08@94.6 mph to the 1/8th, 11.17@119.8 in the 1/4 mile. 1980 Trans Am - 3800 lbs, 455 w/ stock crank & rods, arp bolts, TRW pistons, round port E heads that flow 307@700, CR comes out to 9.57:1. XR288HR-10 comp cam Hyd Roller(236/242@050, 600/620 lift, 110 LSA) 1.65 HS rockers, Performer RPM intake, FiTech EFI. Th400, 10 Inch 3400 Converter from UCC, built 10 bolt with 3.42 gears, all on 89 pump gas. My plan is to swap to a ported Torker II intake with a Wilson 4 hole tapered spacer and see if I can get it in the 10's!

Nice! Always feels good to get a personal best. 60' number is great. Good luck with the intake/spacer swap. Should get you where you want to be

Good job there!
Is the car legal to run in the 10's, as you know they will bounce you out after one or two passes ya know! The Plenum is kinda shallow in the T2 so with your cubes I think you will find faster times with a open spacer, though street driving would be better with a 4 hole.

My TA ran 10.90s @123 and 6.90s @ 99-100 with a slightly slower 60 ft so you should be there easily. One track it was no big deal, San Antonio nicely told me to slow it down, Dallas track not so nice.

I'm nowhere near legal to even run what I run now, but it's Alabama and we could run 7's in the 1/4 and they'd never even check the car. lol.

I guess my car just makes a ton of torque and is lacking slightly on the top end, possibly from the performer rpm? Just based on mph anyways. I have ran 96 in the 1/8th but I think it was better DA that night.

You should've told the Dallas track who you are.

Paul and that was even at the Pontiac Southern Nationals. It was a time trial and Mike Cooke in his red 73 pulled me a fender on the top end. His car was in Pontiac Enthusiast years ago. The Houston track in the past is really pissy even if you are 0.1sec fast. They have a new crew now so not sure how they are, the only tech the Good Friday I ran there recently was "you got all the right tech stuff? OK" Camaro does so not issues.

Impressive numbers!
Do your E-heads 1.66 or 1.77" exhaust valves? Was any modification to the TRW piston valve relief required? |

Darn good for 9.57 compression. What size header? dual 3 inch pipes?
Ported T2 with spacer would be a great match. |

A Tomahawk intake works real well for what you are doing too. Fits perfect for shaker hoods. Did you ever build that engine you were planing on ? |

Awesome numbers for your weight and cam and best numbers I've heard of with the XR288. I would try a 1" open spacer w the T2, my engine made more power with one vs a 4 hole Wilson. What is your suspension set up to get that 60' time?

They are 1.77's. No modifications required - as a matter of fact there was .170 of valve clearance with the 1.65 Harland sharp rockers on both valves according to my dial indicator.

That's with a Performer RPM that I ported to match my heads - no spacer.
