Hi there.

Does anyone have a picture of the rod which goes from the transmission to the steering column?

I understand it's a two piece rod. On part of the rod sits in a hole on the frame/bracket on frame and the other rod goes straight up to steering column.

Without this rod the reverse lights don't come on (automatic trans).

The shop I brought it too said it isn't the right rod. I need some litature or a pic from from someone so I can show the shop.

The next thing I'm going to do is try it myself!

I'd be interested in more info on this too... my reverse lights do not work (nor have they since I got the car). I don't know of any rod connecting the tranny and steering column, and considering I've had the tranny/motor out about three times I'd have noticed it. I have a 76 T/A w/a TH400 (was in the car when I bought it).

Thanks,
Kevin

BTW, this topic probably ought to be moved to "THE BODY SHOP."

Ya tuff call on what forum it should be in. Initially I was told by one mechanic that it was hitting the exhaust on the headers.

I assumed he got the right part but he didn't. Hooker said they've never heard of the rod hitting it. It's quite important to have reverse lights and not be able to start in any gear.

I can take a picture and show you what it looks like.

Getting them with the right gramit's on them is nice as well.

Matt, thank you for the photo.... now, does anybody have an extra one laying around? I'll hit the junk yards but if someone has one handy....

Will they be specific to the type of car? I'd assume one from any 2nd gen bird would work, or would it be specific to the transmission? Mine is a TH400... would one from a TH350 work?

Thanks!
Kevin

when i put headers on my GT-37 the rod from the column down hit the tubes when shifting into drive. I solved it by using a straight rod from a 78 regal/grand prix.on my ex-wifes t/a the collector dit the short rod that goes from frame to trans.the only thing i could do was remove it.i havent found anything to fix that one yet.
