I just recieved my new D-port ram air manifolds from ram air restorations. How necessary is it to have them coated? What are my options? I drive the car weekly in the summer. Suggestions? Leave them as is? Or? Thanks for your help. Steve

They will turn rusty on you if you don't coat them . Try Eastwood or POR 15 for exhaust manifold high temp paint .

I always sprayed mine with heat paint. I used either flat black or the cast iron looking paint.

here's what worked best for me.
get every bit of grease off the manifolds using laquer thinner and paint brush. let dry.

then brush on the POR-15 stainless steel "boiler" paint as a base coat, then use the "black velvet" exhaust coating as a finish coat. you wont be disappointed. i believe you can buy the products in pint cans, enough to do a couple of pair of manifolds.

On my cast iron RA manifolds I used the Eastwood Stainless Steel Gray high temp paint, comes in pint can, and shot it with a gun. Looks fine and last a long time.
