Here are a couple of pictures of my '69 Firebird convertible. The best time is 12.561 at 107.61 at 4320 race weight (with my fat ass in it) running long branch manifolds and full 2 1/2" exhaust.

Here's an older clip of my car:

http://www.texasfbody.org/uploaded/J..._JoeBurnin.mpg

The times have improved. My best with the NOS top shot is now 11.99 and best N/A is 12.66. Hopefully I can beat both of those time now that we have some cooler weather coming up.

Ron H, great catch! Yes, i am dumb and don't run a bar. I only take the car to Pontiac specific events...1-2 times a year...and track rentals. They tend to be less picky at those events. I often just run an 1/8 and let off to keep running in the test and tunes. Before the change to 13.49, i had several times I let off at the 1/8 and coasted to a mid to high 13's and was told to "ease up a bit"...and then I told them that i did and showed them my splits!

I will make a full run when I am at an event where I know they won't throw me out or when I feel a great launch and figure what the hell. I've been asked to leave a number of times.

I do realize it's for my own safety. Some day maybe I'll grow up (I hope not!).

FYI, my best 60 ft was 1.791. Pictures of that run are on the web link above at Atco in '02.

Bummer, that really sucks man. Let us know the results with the new heads. You better step it up buddy, I'm coming to Salt Lake City next year.
Knowing my luck though you'll probably blow my doors off.

MrPushRod -

The '69 weighs about 200 pounds more then the 67/8 according to the first gen firebird stats. So instead of a base weight of 3400, it's 3600 plus myself and gas. I'm about 200. The car is full body/interior with ps/pb - and 1/2 the a/c stuff.

Yeah - I was surprised too...

1969:
http://firstgenfirebird.org/firebird...ma_page12.html

1967:
http://firstgenfirebird.org/firebird/1967/ama/24.pdf

Looks like the base for the '67 400 coupe is a little more then 200 lbs lighter then it is for the '69 400.

Oh well - smok'em if you've got em!!
