Not exactly fast but I was quicker than the fully tubbed and caged Chevelle in the next lane. The bird weighs over 4000 lbs with me in it (170 lbs) and has cold a/c, ps, pdb and a power top. The car normally runs 7.60s but at 92-94 mph. Pay no attention to the black smoke at the start. I was trying out my new 150 shot on this run but forgot to open the bottle so it flattened out a bit till I quickly released the button.

Damn we are all a heavy bunch, I guess that's why we love Pontiac Torque and Power !!
Except Sporter I guess (170).
Your car looked like it was dog tracking on that run. Maybe your rearend is out of alignment? The track looked pretty greasy on that run as well.

The car was pushing me around when I hit second gear (TKO-600). I run a Moser 9" rear and the trac-loc was dying. You can see in the video that the left tire does not start spinning for a few seconds after the right tire is smoking. A couple of weeks later it was a complete peg leg. A Detroit soft-locker is going in this week.

Looks like the base for the '67 400 coupe is a little more then 200 lbs lighter then it is for the '69 400.
Oh well - smok'em if you've got em!!
Joe, great find on the weights, good post. I had no idea of the difference
in weight.

Here is a video of my firebird making a run. I had to let out of it at the start as I lost traction and had to get it straight so I did not run into the other lane. You can not see the car get sideways, but you can here me lift and get back into it. It ran a 7.71 at 92mph on that run. My car is not as good looking as most, but after I make a pass I usually get a few people looking at my car in the pits.

Actually she just beat me. I think the margin of victory was .005. My car does not come out of the hole as hard as I would like but really mphs and runs out the back door.

Most races are won in the first 60 feet.

I saw that car in a magazine, I saw the video of that pass online but I don't remember where otherwise I'd post it.
