Default '76 Trans Am Air Cleaner

We need a factory style air cleaner for our '76 Trans Am, including the main housing, PVC connector, and whatever else is needed to make a complete assy. I've noticed you can buy the shaker scoop, but none of the air cleaner components.

This is for a 455 with a Quadrajet on factory cast iron intake.

Dick, what year carburetor are you going to use? A '76 unit or the one from the '73 engine?

It’s a 7057274, a ‘77 Quadrajet.

I wasn't aware that the Trans Am shaker hoods were not functional Ram Air except for '70-'73. Strange that Pontiac did this--a hood scoop attached to the air cleaner just for appearance. Wow!

Years ago I had a ‘76 T/A 400 car, like many of them someone had removed the block off plate from the scoop and replaced it with perforated aluminum sheet.

In regards to the non-functionality of the closed scoop, just seeing that scoop move to the side with engine torque when you hammered the throttle was the coolest thing. So it did serve a function even with the scoop closed off, Pontiac Excitement!
