That is gonna be one cool 62... Yeah, id probably go with the 455... use old style pistons and heads/intake/timing cover/balancer. it'll look stock and you will have an easier time with trans and starter stuff. Ive heard that Ross makes pistons with valve reliefs for newer and pre '65 engines on the same piston. That would be the way to go in case you decided to switch heads...

Very nice car.

'62/'63 post cars take two tones well in my opinion. I've never seen cream over red so it ought to be a unique car.

That will be a nice car you need to get it finished. Have you considered putting a dual quad setup on it?

Default stalled

I was kicking ass on this project. Should have been done a few years ago. Now from sitting im going to have to blow it apart and redo a few things. 2 fours are in the plans. Want to get it moving first then sneak up on it and try different stuff.

Encouragement when winter is here? Tools feel like holding icicles? Yuck!

Consider how much you have done since the start. Heckuva lot accomplished. Obviously, you know what you are doing.

Apparently, you have had a lapse of progress covering a few years. This happens many, many times when guys tackle a big project. We get distractions (one being we have too many irons in the fire).

I think that there is something "psychological" about these "lapses" in that when you get into a project and you do the big, challenging things, you have a let-down for enthusiasm to finish it up with the small, routine stuff.

You had a vision when it began. Buying the car, scrounging for parts, jumping into the work, all of this is part of your own particular pleasure and enjoyment. However, there are many people on the sidelines cheering you on, whether you know it or not. They want to see that thing on the road! Having a '62 Catalina project car myself, I certainly do!

Hi Ray, I think Doug said it best above, you have had some distractions. But eventually you will be out there with us again. Paul is running again with the new motor and that crazy tri power set up. Are you going to use Seniors SK dual quad? It's cool.

Default Don't let a slow down in your project...............

Don't let your project get the best of you today, just hang in there and work on it as time and $$ allow you to. I have been on my 64" Cat for about five or so years and have had health and $$ and you name it issues but just kept going no matter how slow things get. There is always some small thing you can do, maybe a beer , the radio, sitting on a five gallon bucket in the car in the garage is all I did some days. I still need some new upholstery, carpet, and a better tune up, but it's almost done and you need to hang in there , your car is very cool and you will be very satisfied when you get it done. Lee

How about a race? As in the first person to get their car done wins?? I need some motivation also, but looks like you are farther along than I am. I know that MPKind also is in need of some motivation (like all of us) to get his 65 done.

Yes, share pics, 62cat!

63gpman, great idea! FWIW, I have a similar race going with a friend of mine here - we both own 62 GPs. We decided that we would be premiering them both -as finished cars- at the 2017 POCI convention.

Damn Ray, I wish you hadn't cut that hood up, I've got the hood off your old Cat here in my shop that you could have had, I sold the scoop but the hood is still taking up space here.

Default 62 progress

Almost ready for it to move under its own power. Last year around this time we decided to just paint it and put it back together with what parts we had for it then go from their. I just got new Mark Williams axles and Strange rear discs for the rear to go along with the 4:56 spool i had done 4 years ago. Driveshaft needs to be made along with a custom rollcage going in. Some wiring and interior after that and i should be ready for the street. Heres some more up to date shots.
