Wouldn't a Bonneville make a better drag car since it has more rear overhang?

There were some Bonneville raced back in the day, but they were also heavier so you have to take that into account.

My '61 Bonneville was street raced by the original owner, but I don't know how serious he was about it, or if he ever took it to the track.
It does have plenty of trunk space, though. |
