Default Car names for modern times

I've been pondering the societal influences as related to the names of our beloved cars.

The 50s-60s brought us the space age names, Starchief, Starfire, Galaxie, etc.

Here we are in 2019, I can't wait to visit the dealer showroom and go check out the new Nissan Social Justice Warrior, the Chevy Triggered, the Ford Don't Assume My Gender, and so forth. Really can't be far in the future before we see this stuff.

Soon we'll see such stick-on names

Bi-Fuel
flex-ful
420-ho
LGB-ho
mo-ho
o-mo-ho
guzzler
screamer
electro-ride
ru-486

there's a future for someone in marketing, and it aint me.

According to some - Tesla is the future...

Model S, Model X, Model 3 and the upcoming Model Y...

Musk must have an entire marketing team coming up with those names.

He's so busy over promising and under delivering (that $35,000 Model 3 that he promised 3 years ago has yet to be built) ,,,,

If you tell someone you drive a GTO or a Toronado or a Crown Victoria, they know exactly what it is. You don't even have to preface it with the manufacturer name, i.e. Pontiac GTO. Just GTO is sufficient. But when someone says they drive a TL or a E320 or an MKC, what the hell is that? I'm in the car business and I can't keep them straight. At least Lincoln has recognized the error of their ways (all their vehicles except the Navigator started with "MK"). They are going back to real names such as Aviator and Corsair. Maybe not great names, but real names nonetheless. Hopefully other manufacturers will follow suit.

Too bad he didn't name the newest car the Model E. Then they could have had models S, E and X.

Don’t forget the Millennial Z. Why a Z? Who knows there’s no rhyme or reason to car names these days.

How about an electric car called Buzzed? or Shocker?

I actually think future cars won’t have names anymore just a Letter and a number designation.

There were a lot of nonsensical names long before the Probe came along. Since we're on a Pontiac board, how about the Astra?

Don't buy a new electric car called the Queer Electron, it will just keep blowing fuses.

Instead of Cubic inches or Liter engine call outs we'll have the amount of operating voltage ( The new eCOPO Camaro has an 800 volt motor) or the size of the battery pack.

Okay, so I misspelled that one...there were others, like the T1000, or the 6000 LE (often nicknamed the Pontiac 'Google', long before the search engine ever came along).

I had one of these. It was easy spelling "Formula"
