I've been a regular visitor when in was in MN as my son-in-law lives there.
I know its only 300 miles down the road from St Paul but I don't know if I'll be able to make it this year.

I am disappointed that they moved the show to Milwaukee. I doubt I will make it this year, will probably end up checking out the Street Machine Nationals that the MN Fairgrounds is hosting the same weekend as a replacement for Car Craft.

Yes, I do. But for some reason that I can't ascertain, everyone disavows the 1972 Car Craft Street Machine Nationals in Memphis- even the organizers of the recent events. But the little bronze plaque is still pasted to the dash in the mild-custom '64 Ranchero my wife and I drove there (oh- and my first-born son, although he wasn't born until Jan '73). My son still has the car, which I gave to him as a high school graduation present. It's still very driveable, although it needs a repaint (the eight coats of rainbow-flake epoxy enamel is very cracked). Next time it's out of storage, I need to take a photo of the plaque.

These photos are from '72- before leaving, and halfway to Memphis.
[Its only "Pontiac connection" is the '62 Tempest front bumper]

Didn't know it was back to '72. I was at 77 and 78 at Indy. People doing burnouts every where. Open headers were expected. They had a junk car and sledgehammers and everyone could take a few whacks. Then the alcohol-fueled mob tried to flip the car over. Crazy times. Swap meet had RAIV heads for $300 a pair. I took a pass because it seemed like a lot of money. In 77 I took my Grand Am. Next year took my 70 T/A Challenger and got to drive around the Indy 500 track. We only got up to 80 mph or so, they wouldn't let us go faster.

Thinking back I must have gone in 78 and 79, not 77 and 78. Sorry, the 70's were just a blur.

See http://www.hotrod.com/events/coverag...ine-nationals/
Found a picture of me in my Challenger on the Indy track.

I still have the Frisbee...
