Indy Open
No results on DRC.
Live timing sometimes has mistakes. But, from their Stock Q-2 list, Rob Holmes is #7 @ 1.238 under. Bob Michael is #13 @ 1.077 under. Dave Batta is #25 @ .943 under. Assume he is still driving the '77-'78 Formy that Mark Yacavone & his wife raced. Car info is not listed, only driver names & class. Billy Foder is #46. And Don Turk is #56. https://www.nhra.com/results/2020/lu...ock-eliminator Looks like it may have been what they call "mine shaft" conditions, since the car just below 1/2 way down the list(#36) ran .850 under. Don't know if this applies to this race, since it's a national open race. A SS sheet was posted on the Class Racer forum. The highest Pontiac qualifier was Mike Morgan's 350 powered '77 Formy. The driver is listed as Travis Morgan, who I assume is kin to Mike. He's #8 @ 1.107 under. Stacy McCarty is #13 @ 1.038 under. Casey McCarty is #22. Monte Howard is #25, in a '78 Bird. I just ASSUME that the car is the same Bird he use to drive, which belonged to Ken Shawver, & more recently to Jack Good. Don't know if this is just a loaner for this race, or what. If anybody knows, please post your info. You can click on the pic & it gets a little bigger. But I still had to use a magnifying glass to read it. http://classracer.com/classforum/att...1&d=1602983652 Here's the list, from NHRA LIve Timing. It's a little different. https://www.nhra.com/results/2020/lu...super-stock/q2 Last edited by ponyakr; 10-18-2020 at 10:16 AM. |

Congrats To Kevin MacNicol on going to the final in Super Street in Rockingham!
If I’m not mistaken that could be a strong enough finish to win him The Division 2 Super Street Championship!!!!!!!

Well, the Pontiacs ain't doin so good at this race.
If Dave Batta is driving a Pontiac, he has the only Pontiac left, after E-3. https://www.nhra.com/results/2020/lu...ock-eliminator How would ya'll like to cut a .001 light AND get beat on the tree ? I assume it may have happened before. But I've never seen it. Travis Morgan cut a .001, & his opponent cut a perfect .000 light AND ran almost exactly his dial-in. (Assuming the Live Timing numbers are correct) It's EXTREMELY hard to beat a package like that, in any class. https://www.nhra.com/results/2020/lu...super-stock/e1 If Dave Batta is running the old Yacavone Bird, here's a pic of it, from back when it was some sort of HPP mag project car. Dave Batta
Got a PM from Dave. He was indeed driving that same '77 bird that Mark Yacavone had. Said he bought it in 2001.
He hasn't raced in 12 years. Said that Dave Edwards helped him freshen the Bird up. I ask him for some pics, but don't have 'em yet. |

From what I can find, they're racing @ Vegas the next 2 weekends.
Looks to be a Lucas Oil Series race Thurs & Fri, then the Jegs Sports Nats race Sat & Sun. Then next week is the Finals race. The nat event series is now sponsored by Camping World. https://www.facebook.com/TheStripatLVMS/ Assuming there will be a few Pontiacs at all these races. Yeah, that's what they're calling this race.
It'll be @ Houston Raceway, in Baytown, TX, this weekend. https://www.nhra.com/schedule/2020/n...event-schedule https://www.facebook.com/HoustonRaceway/ The only Pontiacs shown on the pre-entry lists are the Clegg Birds, with Devon Dioguardi driving the '74 Stocker & J.B. Clegg driving the '73 Super Stocker. |

Just watched a little of the DRTV coverage. In Stock, C.W. Hoefer was still in. I think they were going to the quarter final round.
C.W. has to run Jody Lang next round. He's tuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7waJs9cqpxA |

Both Pontiacs lost in round 2. J.B. Clegg ran a 9.627, in the '73 SD455 Bird. It's still the quickest regular SS Pontiac powered car.
