Default missing trim clip studs.

what to do when you have missing or damaged trim clip studs around the front and rear glass?

I replace them. Tried the Napa-type clips and they are generic, and not the best fit or match. I ended up going to Ames, and the product was perfect. My car has the metal and the longer plastic OEM clips and Ames has both. But waited till I needed other stuff - the shipping!!

How are the studs installed. Screw in, or?? I have a couple slightly bent ones but they worked enough that I didn't worry about replacing them because I thought it would be a real problem.

Yep - those look like the ones. Some I got years ago as part of replacement side trim package from GM also had a bit if rubber around the threads as a sealer.

They work great but don't drill the holes too large. Just large enough to start the screw and then force them to open the hole and thread themselves in. They need to be tight.
Also, I sprayed the screws with epoxy primer and dipped the threads in JB Weld before driving them in.

Yep, you can buy screw-in trim clip studs from Ames, too. Pack of 100 for $6.00, part number G134G.
