Default Hydroboost with Scarebird brakes

Anyone done it yet? What master cylinder did you use?

Jim,

I'm going to call MP and Tallon Hydraulics. MP doesn't list the B-bodies on the application
info. Tallon is supposed to let you design your own kit for around $750. Looks like I'm going to be the first one to do this.

Compare stroke length of the Vac booster to the stroke of the Hydro unit. If they're the same compare bores of the master.
Honestly I'd look at either a 84 ish 1/2 ton Chevy truck with JD5 brakes or An 83 Grand Prix with a diesel system. Either should work and parts are still readily available. IF the bolt spread's the same for the mount you should be able to use a 68-70 B body Master Cyl on this unit.

The truck will have drum and caliper system sizes closer to the Mid 60's B-body cars.
Mike

What Mike said is what I used on my hydroboost setup, along with a 78 Firebird master.

Works like a charm.

Guys,

Thanks for the imput. The hydroboost system makes perfect sense to me since my Cat has manual brakes and power steering(?). When I priced the parts needed to install a power brake booster and getting it overhauled verses the hydroboost, the cost was a wash.

Trust me, you will not worry about breaking even when you drive it for the first time.

Just got off the phone with Tallon Hydraulics. I have to measure the bolt pattern, measure the distance from inside the firewall to the brake pedal, identify whether it's a clevis or a loop and the size of it, and determine whether the brake pedal has a stud or not. Doesn't sound too difficult......
