Default 1969 Firebird 400 4 speed carb

This car has been in the family since new and has the original Quadrajet carb. #7029263 VD 2039. It runs great excepting when I push the pedal to the floor. Then it boggs down and I have to let off and it will return to running well. As this is the original carburetor and I really don't want to change out things without knowing what should stay and what I can do to make it right. I do remember some years ago having the power valve and jets changed and so I would like to know what is correct for this carb as the power valve came out of a Corvette. Also where to go for the correct parts. Thanks

I would contact Cliff Ruggles. He is a member of these forums and is an expert in Q-jets. You can send him your carb for a full rebuild or purchase a kit from him.

Cliff restored mine eight years ago and I haven't even had to ajust the idle. Also might check your vacuum advance.

Have you checked your accelerator pump? Probably dry rotted and not giving extra fuel when you need it. It's right on top and easy to get to.
