Default Courtesy light switch, w/ headlights. what year?

Who might know what year Pontiac started using headlight switches that used the dimmer in the far position to turn on the courtesy lights?
I suspect it was somewhere around '62-'64?

I'd guess much earlier. My '52 GMC pickup turns on the interior light by twisting the dimmer all the way.

Interesting! I just looked this up in a '57 Pontiac Owner's Manual and found that the "courtesy lights" were activated using a toggle switch below the headlight switch or by opening the doors.

Bill, Interesting on the GMC. You'da thunk the car divisions would have would have done that by '57??

A quick update: I see that Delco switch D 1527 for the 61-62 Tempests & F-85s appear identical to the 60-62 Pontiac D 1520 but have the provision for the switch operated dome light.
I strongly suspect that one of these switches would be a drop in for the full size cars if you wanted to upgrade.

Here is a '55 Chevy switch, note the courtesy light provision. Couldn't Pontiac have done this???

My 1962 Bonneville has a separate switch for interior lights. Seems Pontiac was a little slow to adopt improvements. Look how long it took them to switch to ball joints.
