Default How can I get some information about my air conditioning unit.

Is there a way to tell if the air conditioning on my 1967 GTO is factory or aftermarket?

If I ordered the PHS documents, would it show factory A/C in the documents? If so, what page?

That info is on page 003 of my 67"s PHs documents. It is also indicated on page 002, the billing statement, in box 58, either a 1 or 2, depending on system choice. I hope this helps.

No 2E on the trim tag - guess the A/C was an add on.

Take a pic of the trim tag
I find it hard to believe it was added on
The entire firewall is different on an AC car

That definitely appears factory with the Harrison and Frigidaire components. As stated factory air required a different firewall to relocate the blower motor and the one shown again appears factory.

As for the 2E for AC (could also be 2K being a difference in ducting) not showing on the data plate is entirely possible. The data plate did NOT show all the accessories. The pic is the data plate from my 64 GTO (generally the same as yours) and it only shows four accessories, and 5N is not really an accessory but a GTO option code used at the Pontiac and KC plants. Radio, sport steering wheel, etc. not shown.

I’m not sure if only certain accessories where required to be listed, or the guy stamping the plate just listed what he wanted.

Order the PHS. When I got mine they included supplemental pages that de-coded the accessory codes as to what the represented...example—1W—tinted glass/windshield EDIT UPDATE: Just took a closer look at the label on the blower assembly with the following: EBA-70-67B. I don't know how to decipher that but just guess that the 67B could be a date code?? February 67?? Just a thought as your GOAT is a 67.

Here is a photo of the trim tag. Does it tell anything about possible factory A/C:

Clearly that’s a factory installation, absolutely no doubt.

As already mentioned the firewall is different. Not only that but the A/C evaporator is contained inside the mid to lower passenger side of the firewall inside a cavity which requires different body construction, so it’s a bit more than just different holes in the firewall.

A PHS report would easily document the air conditioning option, but again you can be 100% sure it’s factory A/C and not an aftermarket or dealer installed setup.

As b-man for the reasons stated this is clearly a factory install.

As to your specific question no AC shown on your data plate. FYI, your listed accessories are W-tinted windshield; group 2—2Z, three speed auto trans; 2G-console; 5Y-deluxe front seat belts. The PHS is what you need to verify what the car came with.

Would also have the 17 1/2" radiator core vs. the 15 1/2" core .

What am I measuring? Outside to outside? What is the measurement from/to?

You’re measuring the core itself, right between the top and bottom tanks.

As others have said, that is the factory A/C setup, which cannot be installed on a non-A/C car without replacing the firewall. That virtually ensures your car was born that way. In addition to the larger 17.5" radiator, you should also have the larger heater controls on the dash with integrated center vent, as well as the round ball vents on either side of the dash which non-A/C cars do not have.

But you might as well go ahead and order the PHS docs, because being able to get the original build specs is one of the nice parts about owning a Pontiac.

It looks like a factory installation, and most likely is. If you ever seen Todd Hoffmanns installation before he took it out, it looked factory also, but he had installed himself some years ago . He had also changed out the firewall. In his change back to non ac, he had to install a non a/c fire wall, and closed up the vent ball holes.
