Primng the engine after new cam installation
I want to circulate some oil in my engine before I do the initial start up after installing a new cam. I don't have a spare distributor to strip and use as the drive mechanism. Any ideas what I can do to make a drive mechanism.
I also posted this in the "street" section. |

They are about 20 bucks and any speed shop or auto parts store should have it
If not Amazon prime will have it to you in a day |

I just ordered the pump primer fron a local parts store. It should be in Tues. morning. The first ones that I looked at online were ~$50 , way too much but this was $24, much better.

When priming, get the oil flowing, then rotate the crank by hand 1/4 turn and prime again. Rotate the crank 1/4 turn each time you get oil flowing until you have turned the crank 1 complete rotation. This ensures everything gets oil and any trapped air is pushed out.
