appreciate any feedback on car I am considering for purchase
I am considering this car for purchase. I would appreciate any feedback you might have regarding its originality, condition, pricing, etc.:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/224095220656 https://vmp.ebay.com/ebay/viewAllPho...?smid=32889639 EDIT: I've asked for photos of the Protect-O-Plate and the engine stamp so far.

Stance seems a bit high. What's going on there?

$80k for a restored example? No way. It's priced about $25-30k too high. Only way it would be worth $80k would be if it was a very low mileage unrestored original time-capsule with rare options. This car has none of that going for it. It's nice, but not worth $80k. Maybe it was worth that much before the muscle car bubble burst before the Great Recession, but not in today's market.
Also, is it me, or does there seem to be a color mismatch between the hood and the header panel? The header panel looks like a darker hue than the hood in all the photos, and it also has an insane amount of orange peel - as if someone painted it with Rust-Oleum. For a car that was restored to "the highest of standards", it's pretty unforgivable to do such a poor job painting one of the most visible parts of the car.

I always thought it odd that the factory never put a Pontiac emblem on the tail panel.
This is a nice car, but when you start getting over 50,000.00, there's quite a choice of them. But if this car caught your eye and you can negotiate a good price, then what the heck. They are only asking for 80,000.00. It doesnt mean that they will get it. |

It's from one of those 'classic car dealers' that add zero value yet jack up prices 50%+ higher than market and wait for a sucker. Look elsewhere unless you hate saving money.

Bingo. I looked at some of their other listings on their website. They have many cars that are wildly overpriced, just waiting for a sucker to come along.

There's reason that car dealers and politicians are some of the least trusted professions ever. They lie, every time their mouth is moving............

Thanks to all for the feedback. Please let me put this question out there:
What is a reasonable price for the following car: -1967 convertible - #2 or better condition -original red exterior and original interior color -all original powertrain (including block, heads, covers, trans, rear-end) -4-speed manual -power steering -all PHS documented Would an original 66 tri-power with the same list be worth more? If so, how much more? Thanks for the time.

45-50k if you had to have it. More if you watch TV.

Water pump pulley painted blue. Wrong oil fill cap (A.I.R.?) means PCV
doesn't work. Open hood scoop w/base air cleaner. Fan blades are wrong. PS cap is wrong. Power bucket seat is MIA. And now that zee'ham pointed it out, that header panel cannot be unseen. I expect the beak got punched, followed up by a really CHEAP repair. |

Nevermind.... the seller sucks. I asked for a copy of the protect-o-plate (listed in the ad) and a photo of the engine serial number stamp?!?
Now they say the car doesn’t have a plate and the engine is not original. Typical.....

I'm not even a little surprised to learn that it's not as advertised. Makes the ad copy and the atmospheric price tag that much more humorous, if not frustrating. The dealer is either stupid or a shyster. I'm going with the latter.

I was finished looking at this car after I saw the 3rd photo of the deck lid not lining up with tail panel mouldings
Any car over 65k better have. Excellent fit and finish The dealer is a typical fast talker too He says the car is “watch out red” I hate ads like that |

Wow, now the seller just emailed me and said he “found” the protect-o-plate:
Not a chance I’m gonna proceed. But thought the forum might like to see it.

To add to the above points in post #12, (pump pulley color, etc ), I see what looks like 15" repro wheels, trunk color is wrong, window crank knob color should be parchment.
