'72 T/A 4 speed "Tank Time"
Do you like Black? How did the drivetrain get this black with the engine installed?
window cranks? Carb(s) ? TO me, its not original enough to sell as "unrestored" Could be free of rust... Its a 30K project once you buy it though 2K Plus window cranks Fuel lines.. etc. to drive it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/18434963156...MakeTrack=true |

Price seems high for the amount of work that it needs

I think he made an error when he transcribed the Qjet number.
I can see 7042... but cant make out anything else. Car has aftermarket Air Conditioning and by the way he avoided picturing it in the underhood photos, it must be one of those ghastly looking set-ups with Ford type compressor and wacky brackets. 25-35k zone to me, which means it's a good car overall. Maybe 55k on Bring-A-Trailer |

This car has been for sale for at least 2 years. Always been in New Mexico. IIRC, he was originally asking around 75k.

I am not a Trans-Am guy, but is the 4-speed console an option on these cars? I would think console delete is not common, just like a GTO with bucket seats.

Console was extra cost.
A good number of 70-72 4spd cars were non-console. Even some of the Automatics were non-console (column shift). |

Claims the car has not been apart but as was stated, everything is black. Lose the foilers and change those cheap, autoparts store window cranks from 1975.
Zep, you can bet that's the old Ford compressor. They work great but ugly. I like the car with some easy fixes but strong money IMO.

Price seems a bit high relative to the work it needs done (and undone...).
But there aren't many solid cars being sold by their original owners anymore, either.

I wonder what it looked like before it was repainted. (blue stripes painted on)
Could be a very nice car if restored. What does a full restoration cost these days? What is a nicely restored 72 4 speed Trans Am worth these days? Asking price of $55K is unrealistic. IMO $30K max if no rust. |

IMO if he gets $38 for the car as is he will be doing well. Too many things that will need to be replaced/fixed. Doubt the new stripe kits are cheal for the good ones let alone the application.
Rare car in numbers produced and its orig #'s matching. I wish him luck. |

As stated earlier in this thread, this car has been for sale for a while now. I seem to recall the car was originally listed for something like 70K, and that was way too much considering the condition of the car. It's a cool car, but it's gonna need work. The current ad does not include some of the pictures he posted in the beginning. The car does indeed have add-on air conditioning, and it had/has the Ford type compressor. I would just rip that out and weld up the holes in the firewall. Unfortunately they cut holes for a/c vents in the dash bezel, so they've ruined it, and the early non a/c bezels are hard to find. The earlier pictures also showed that the air cleaner snorkels have been cut off, so the car will need an air cleaner. Here are some engine shots from the original ad. I would say it would be a good car for 30-35K, if they have the correct carb.
