Default Quadrajet body top uneven

I am working on a quadrajet carburetor for one of my cars and was just measuring to see if the body was warped or anything before I started assembling it. I measured side to side and it looked good both at the front and back. Front to back showed that the back of the carb was lower than the top by maybe .100. Just out of curiosity I took apart another one to see if it was the same way, and it was. Has anyone seen anything like this and know if it is normal?
