Trunk Torsion Rods
I searched and didn't find what I was looking for, so figured I'd ask...
Trunk/deck lid rods for wing cars, were they different than non-wing cars, or just on a different adjustment hole? Have a lazy deck lid I'm trying to resolve, any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated. .

Different adjustment hole.

So is it the end adjustment hole, closest to the back seat, or closest to the rear of the car?
I remember at one point there was a tool for doing the adjustment, any tips there? .

When I got my 71 Judge, that was one of the first things I checked. The size of the trunk rods as compared to the non-winged GTO's. They were the same size. Like Ram4king said the "adjustment holes" will allow you to change the spring tension.

It's hard to explain without a picture but you want to move it one notch higher.

Thank you gentlemen, that's helpful. Any tips on moving the rods?

When I looked at mine they were in different holes on different sides. I'll have to go look again, but as I remember one side is in the center hole and the other side is in either the hole closes to the back seat or the trunk, not sure which. I've always thought this was wrong....most likely done when the car was restored 20 years ago. Don't Think it left the factory that way. Any consensus on which holes are correct?

I use a long socket and long extension as the tool to move them, a socket that just fits snug. They seem to have been adjusted differently not just for the Judge but also for the presence of factory (not dealer) installed remote trunk release. Power trunk cars are set lower, I guess so the trunk wouldn't fly open, the lid only pops up an inch or two and then if raised by hand they stay open all the way. Non power trunk cars will pop open all the way if you let go of the key. I've seen this enough over hundreds of boneyard cars in the 70's and 80's to know this was not a co-incidence.

For example two of my 69's had a factory trunk release and the bars are bottom position on the left and middle on the right, my third 69 which came without a trunk release is middle on the left and top on the right (none are Judges).

Ah, a socket, yeah, makes sense. Thanks! Guess I can try different positions and use what seems to work for me.
Excellent, thank you all! .

I don't recall anything in the assembly manual about which hole to use, but I think the Fisher manual explains how to adjust the setting afterwards.

Makes sense since the adjustment of the bars might not have been enough to reliably correct for the weight of the wing. The absence of the 70 Judge is probably because the MPC you refer to was not complete in terms of 70 specific parts.

one of mine snapped a while back and I sourced a set from a silver 70 GTO that a fellow was parting at the co-vention...they are the same as my Judge originals. Color coded on the ends pink and the other was orange with alot of silver over spray on them .

One of mine snapped too, at the body shop, they were trying to get it to the next hole. So figured I'd need a pair.
Looked at Parts Place, they have them, but list them in either 44 or 46". Seems the 46" worked for me, but the body guy didn't get it to the next notch. Maybe he didn't want to break another! .

Coming back around to this, looks like my current rods are in the last holes, and it's not lifting or holding the lid with the wing up.
Anyone have part numbers for the 70 judge? I suspect I need a thick one, or for both? .
