He pulled the auction and sent a shipping company to pick up the hood from my shop. I hope he finds out what the real story is behind this hood.

I think someone made a t/a hood skin a while back . I know i have seen a t/a hood skin offered by a place called firebird specialties. they no longer offer it , but 10 plus years ago they did. I have an old catalog that offers a 1969 t/a hood skin .

I am fairly certain that the Firebird Specialties skin was fiberglass. They offered a glass hood with a steel under-structure.

I saw one that Larry Lorenz had made with FG over steel, this was at Carlisle in maybe 85-86. He was asking about $700 then. I think he had made a couple of them and it was the last one.

there are a few that are making the steel framed, fiberglass ta hood.i sell them.the hood i have is all steel and there is only one company that has made a die to stamp out an all steel hood to my knowledge and everybody elses knowledge.that is the parts place.the hood i bought in mn is not like the hood on the original 69 ta we have here.it is not even a good immitation.the people that still have an original one dont have to worry about their part losing any value.i would not bother buying one of those repo hoods.

John, been happy so far,had a little issue with the latch and also with clearance for the upper vac pod on the drivers side of the upper pan.I did not use them anyway as The car has headers and would not have a advantage to use them. The only real pisser is the quality of the aftermarket scoops. For a real car I would want a real one for sure but for anything else I like it.JMO,Tom
