I've heard that the most popular color for the 67 and 68 Firebirds was green. In looking through a stack of late 60's Saturday Evening Post magazines I found at a flea market, most of them are green. The green top and interior is something you don't see anymore, as all new cars are mostly black/beige/gray. Enclosed is a pick of a 69 Limelight green with a green top and green interior, which I thinks looks very sharp. http://oldcarandtruckads.com/Pontiac/ http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/pc/...d/131766/95070 |

The Limelight 69 is gorgeous! It's looks like a lot of work and money went into the resto. I'm scrolling through the pics, and then there it is- That *&^ %#&$ Buick 400-4 air cleaner decal. They even mention it in the ad.

why would they spend all that money and then put a cheap flat pleated PUI interior?
and hood hinges that dont close the hood?

Since there appears to be no such photo, I made one up.
I found a software tool online that does a color swap, but was too cheap to pay for it so I apologize for the banner. But gives an idea of what the car could look like. Source image was from the RK motors web site.. great pics if you didn't look at them. |

It reminds me of a expresso brown 69 GTO (RA IV btw) that had a green Cordova top and green interior. After almost a year of trying to sell the car the original pontiac dealer gave up and painted it midnight green. Champagne and green is not ridiculous like a blue and green combo or something but its pushing the limit in my opinion. That is a really cool website, great for anyone considering color swaps!

What website is it?

Not a web site, but a software tool:
http://plexityhide.com/colorswap.htm May not be easy to use if you have never messed with an image processing program, but is a pretty amazing "single-purpose" tool for changing colors while keeping all the shading. I think they want $30 for it, which seems pretty reasonable if you want to try a bunch of colors/combos on a car, but they let you download a demo version like I did. Good luck! and no, I have no business interest in this nor anything else leading to affluence |

I'm gonna try it out. Seems like it could be fun creating permutations for some Mopars, if not playing around with Judge stripes.

I don't think it works for a Mac. :-(

Man this champagne car is gorgeous.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-...item35c5001c37 I love it... except for the steering wheel. |

Agree that color looks good. Those pictures make the champagne seem more pink than some of the others that make it look gold.
Here's my attempt to add a green top... I think the top color is a little too bright, but maybe gives you another idea of what your car might have looked like: |

Here's another shot at changing the green car to chamagne.. the top is more correct on this one but not sure the body is "pink" enough..

For those of us who grew up in the 60's and 70's, green, gold and orange colors were the norm. Blues and reds just weren't in back then. I can still remember laying on the orange shag and looking at the green refrigerator and watching channel 13 the only station we could get on the antenna.
I bought a triple black 70 gto convertible in '89 that someone thru an orange shag carpet down over the original black carpet in '72. Someday down the road people are going to look back at the present and wonder what we were thinking on colors and fashion of the time also. |

I would have to say ,since a had a 68 bird in that color --april gold- 68 color re-named for 69-and most repaints of that color look way to green-
the heavy gold thats correct |

yep
way different RA96 might be thinking more about 68 April Gold and 69 Antique Gold. That would be closer - but still different mixes / formula numbers |
