If you call them back, chances are they'd ask for a credit card number to charge the amount due or some penalty fee and just rip you off for that amount of money. The typical claim is that you purchased a Mac computer or iPhone on your Amazon account. I've been an IT manager for over 30 years and have to deal with these things every day.

I've adopted a rule-of-thumb for dealing with ANY message or email from Amazon, eBay, Paypal, my bank, etc.
If they send a message, a text, or even leave a computerized voicemail, DO NOT reply. Let's say Amazon sends you a message. Get on the actual Amazon website and log into your account and check for that message from them directly. Same with paypal or any other payment service. If the message is supposed to be from your bank, then call the 800 number on the back of your credit or debit card. NEVER EVER click on a link in an email or text. Glad your 'spidey-sense' was tingling on this one! |
