56 Star Chief involved in a really bad accident. $3500 NR In Pennsylvania. There's gotta be more than $3500 in good parts off this car.

77 Can Am for $4500 BIN in CA. Claims to have rust, but has the bottom fallen out for these cars? I always liked them.

Not just "claims" to have rust.... from the picture, it clearly has it -- and a lot of it.

This one has the 2-tone red/white interior, which is my favorite on a Can Am.

I wouldn't say the "bottom has fallen out" on Can Ams (well, on this one it sort of is from rust ). It's just that they're expensive to restore due to fewer good parts available than for say, a '64-'72 GTO, and the values of restored ones make it hard to justify the investment. So a car needing a lot of parts/work like this one is a tough sell.

And, since this one was sold new in CA, it has the Olds 403 engine, which is generally a bit less desirable to some Pontiac folks than the 49 state cars with the Pontiac 400s.

Odd that a CA car would have a lot of rust? I didn't know the CA cars has Olds engines.

Its definitely a 403 car , and still has an Olds engine.
And the oddball breather pan arrangement.

Just pointing out that i don't think it came with Red Seats.
It has white plastic seat backs and belt retainers.

Mine had White with Firethorn appointment interior.
The seats were white, i bought it from original owner in 1988
Maybe there was more than one version of the appointments, but white seatbacks and belt retainers on red seats looks too crappy to be stock issue.

Colorado was rough on that car
403 car in that condition is a really tough sale at that price

Ah... you're right. I hadn't looked that closely -- just saw white and red. Seats would likely have been white, too.

The one I once owned had an all red interior, and when I got the PHS (or whatever they were when they came directly from Pontiac), I got a nice 8x10 glossy of a CA that had white seats. Looked great.

Gotta love the groovy red seats with the rainbow center. This would be a fun 4-speed car.

Interesting. That car doesn't appear to have a correct dash for a Can Am. But it's not the only one with the rainbow (Can Am stripe colors....) themed seat covers. Here's one I saw at a local show a few years ago...

I've read up on these cars and found out a lot of stuff I didn't know...

Only 1300+ produced
When the mold broke for the rear spoiler it halted production (was set for 5000 cars). Seems the Grand Prix team felt this was a threat and killed it.
A lot of white Lemans cars were built to meet production but were sold as a standard Lemans once production was halted.
No 4-speed factory cars were made.
One year only 1977
I've found nothing on the rainbow seats as an option

Based on rarity, the car at $4500 seems like a good deal even with the rust. If you had a 77 Lemans white car with louvers it would be worth it to recreate one. They're really cool cars.

Looks like a good deal to me. Too bad it’s an automatic, I’ve heard these were fun with a stick.

It's at Restore-a-Musclecar in Nebraska. Amazing the number of 2nd gen cars those guys accumulated and have been selling off over the past few years.

Putting "Lucerne Blue" in the title of the auction for this one is a bit disingenuous, though, given the paint on the car is "unusable", and from the factory it was white (which they state in the ad, if you read it... but still).

High VIN number - this was one of the last '70 T/As built.

Good catch on it being white originally. IMO you can do whatever you want to cars that are not numbers matching regarding interior and exterior colors without affecting their value. Painting this car blue vs. white wouldn't change the value unless white was in higher demand.

What I like about this car is the clean floorboards. Rust is what costs the most to fix. I currently have my 75 T/A in the shop and it should be finished next week. Complete Edelbrock top end on a NOM and it should run fine on pump gas. If this car were numbers matching, you'd almost have to go NOS for everything and it would cost a bunch.

Also worth noting is the shaker appears to be in the trunk.

One more thing... there's no headrests. Weren't they standard in 70?
