Default MY 62 Tempest Daily Driver

Almost done with my 62 Tempest daily driver. Here are some before and after shots of the car. It has a 4 cylinder 1 bbl auto trans with 3:08's. Going to show it for a while before I put into daily use.

Default 62 driver

Gary,
Looks like you upgraded the master cylinder. Did you go with disc brakes? Nice looking car!

Thanks Jerry!! The master cylinder is from a 72 AMC Gremlin 4 wheel drum brakes all around. No plans to convert over to discs yet.

A little progress in the chassis shop

BTW - the mid-plate is being modified and adapted to a BOP pattern.

Here's how you trick your unibody car into thinking it has a full frame

This car will still retain it's full factory interior as well.

Is this welded to the subframe
Qiurios how you've attatched this to your sub frame.
On my 62 I used 2x2 square tubing inside the sub frame
on the top side, I like how yours looks too.

The bars are bent to the shape of the subframe and welded.

Arizona car it has a 8.50 cert ,ford 9 inch with 4:10 gears, on a 9 inch slick. Fresh built 461 with Wenzler heads and tunnel ram 2 800 Edlbrock carbs tubo 400 T brake (4500 stall) The car has a full interior Glass hood and trunk lid and glass bumpers.
Made a few shake down passes last night foot brake only went 12.90 12.60 last pass 10.71 with a lot more left in it Just need to get seat time as it is new to me.
I want to run N/SS and I think it turned out pretty close.

Very nice. Do you have any interior and underside pics? Any idea how much it weighs?

I'm not sure I know John Stolpa. Wayne from Shicantek Performance built the motor and C&S performance rebuilt the heads for me.

Drove it to work today. Been a fun project. 195, 4bbl, high compression, 3 speed, original body color and interior. Now to get my Cameo White Lemans finished.

Thanks Kieth. This little car is a blast to drive. I put the 4GC in the trunk and put a 400 CFM AFB in its place. That helped the response quite a bit.

Thats a great carb for the Tempest 4 cyl motor. I have ran the 4gc, an afb, a 390 cfm Holly & even had a Q jet off of a sprint motor on one for a while just for kicks. By far the Carter AFB was the best. I even ran a set of side draft Webbers for a while. Ran like a raped ape!! Just couldnt keep them in tune. I am guessing due to the vibration.

What year LeMans?? Interior color??

I am having problems with my 4GC and was going to have it rebuilt. Maybe I should just replace it, where did you get your AFB?
