Very interesting, no papers and no numbers, so I assume that means no title and all VIN numbers have been cut from the car. He mentions the prior owner did a rebody. So what would a person actually be purchasing here? Sounds like all it could be is a parts car, likely only the TA rear spoiler has value.

Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ponti...fCarsQ5fTrucks

I would seriously question this car, considering the seller says he has NO docs at all, there's no engine, he didn't even list the VIN.

Great photo of the functional front fender extractors (you know, those ones many GTO guys claim are fake ), and a nice photo showing an original spoiler.

WOW so now 2 cars have been ruined.
I wonder if the VIN under the cowl and heater motor are still there.
If it is indeed a IV car Im sure the VIN could be eliminated from other known ones
and using a date, which some parts on car will still display,
could be nailed down without the owners help.

So now we have 700 TAs?

When I read the ad I was thinking of the movie Dumb and Dumber. If it is one of the nine cars and how many had a blue dexule interior it has ruined the value of the restored car. Should have never rebodied the car because the shell is very saveable but since he did why not destroy the leftover shell?

Weird that the rear spoiler was left on it...wouldn't you want to use it (or at least keep it as a spare)?

What would happen if someone bought this shell and found or worked out the VIN...then located the resto'd car? Could they legally get the tags back?

IIRC that happened not too long ago on a Chevy. The leftover shell was sold & new owner ran the frame vin with the hopes of getting it titled. DMV/FBI were involved, found the restored car and it since it was clear what had happened the owner had to forfeit the "restored" car.

I'd be surprised if this auction is lasts the week. The owner with those tags on his car should be getting real nervous about now, it's probably not the kind of publicity he was expecting.

If you click on his feedback, a picture of a 69 trans am is present. Once blown up, it's a freshly painted car with the hood on a fender stand. I guess that's where the tags and motor went? Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't have two cars with the same vin, so what's the point?

I sent the seller a couple questions:

Is there a VIN on the firewall? You have PHS that can't be matched up to the car. Why is that significant?

He replied: The PHS matches the cowl VIN number.

My guess is the OWNER of the car with the tags is the one who made a VERY GOOD offer on the shell. How dumb can you be-A 1 OF 9 CAR???????????
