Differences between A- and B-Car standard manifolds? Any of note?
So... heading in under the hood of the GTO, figuring, in for a penny, in for about a lot of pounds.
Both L and R mannys leak like mad. While there may be a future repair, I'm covetously eyeing the standard mannys decorating the YH 421 rebuild sitting in the corner of the garage, that look to be in far better condition. So to the question? What's the possiblity they might stand in for the clinkers currently attached to the bone stock untouched 400 sitting the GTO right now? Also, was there a heat valve on left or right to warm up the intake? I'm not currently seeing one as I'm crawling around under the heap. Its not a winter car, so no great loss, but if it is necessary to fit a proper repro exhaust, then I need to start digging. Thanks! |

As long as the manifolds are rear dump they’re the same.
B-body engines usually had a center dump on the driver side so that’s a no go if that’s the case. There should be a thermostatic flapper valve in the passenger side manifold, if someone hasn’t changed it to a later one that doesn’t have one.

Thanks, when I went out to look at them after dinner, it was clear the center exit was not going to work. Gr-rrr. |
