Default Dash pad

I tried in the interior section with no response so I will try here. Does anyone know how to remove the dash pad on a 1962 Bonneville? Thanks.

I had mine out about 5 years ago. If I remember correctly, it's just a row of screws across the top/front of the instrument cluster. Then the metal trim pieces between the windshield and the pad, over the defroster vents. Then the A pillar mouldings. Finally, the two almost hidden screws in the pad itself, lower front of the pad in the corners. Then it lifts off.

It must be the 2 screws you mentioned that are causing the problem. Does the speaker grille have to come off first or does it stay right on the pad?

Does this pad have the 2 studs at the leading edge that go thru the firewall?

I hope not. To get into the plenum is a major project. I know 1965 did but 1963-4 doesn't.

My ‘64 GP has the two studs thru the firewall. The shop manual indicates they have nuts on them. I removed the wiper grill and found them to be unthreaded studs. Once the side windshield trim and the various under dash screws were removed, the pad could be lifted a bit and pulled backwards freeing the studs. Hope this helps. My

I thought you meant threaded studs. Yes the 1963-4 have pins(studs) but the 1965 has a threaded stud with a nut on the outside. I don't know yet about the 1962.

I think you will find the 62 doesn't have any attachment forward of the dash pad. I think this is due to the metal trim between the pad and windshield that pinches the pad down in the front. The 65 and 66 have the threaded stud because nothing really holds the pad in that area.
