Can the sock on a sender unit be replaced?
Mine has opened up on the bottom and doesn't look like it or it's collar can be removed. Can a sock be repaired? A friend mentioned to sew it back together with something that the gas won't eat through. (fishing line?) Thanks

most of the "socks" [ strainer] i've seen have a metal collar that hold them onto the sender's pickup tube. they usually just pull off. most good auto parts stores will carry some type of strainer that will work. just be sure the one you use doesn't interfere with the sending unit float when installed. try to reinstall the new one in the same position as the one removed. mike
