Default Removing front sheetmetal

Does anyone have an exploded view of how the front sheet metal comes apart on a 64 Tempest? AMD wants me to remove it and I am far from a body man I don't want to mess anything up while taking it off. Pause while it's off I will get to do some firewall detailing but I'm not sure where to begin beyond the hood and bumper.

I dont have one for 64, but if you are going this deep into the project, now is the time to get a service and assembly manual! They end up being very useful.

Looks like ames has a body manual for 64s. Might be a good source, especially during reassembly. But not sure how good it is for 64s. Maybe somebody with it on here could let you know before you spend the money? The 70 one isnt too bad.

You gonna remove the front clip as a unit or in pieces?

I guess piece by piece unless you think as a unit is easier

Here is the order I just went through.

1. Remove hood - Left hood hinges attached to fenders.

2. Remove front bumper - you may have to remove parking lights from bumper first do to wiring routing.

3. Remove grill inserts then nose panel.

4.Headlight trim rings then the headlight housings.

5. Remove outer fenders - passenger side radio antenna unplugs under top of fender. There are bolts all the way around wheel well, on top of the fender to the inner fender well and along the radiator core support at the front. Of the course the dreaded two bolts at the bottom of the fender behind the front wheels. Blast the crap out those before trying to remove. The recessed bolt goes into the cage nut inside the rocker.

6. Remove the battery tray.

7. Remove the radiator and core support.

8. Remove the inner fenders.

This of course does not include all the wire disconnects, ground straps and other obvious small items.

Bag all your bolts in zip lock bags and label it all. Also if there are missing bolts write it on the bag. I also try and leave bolts in place when you can after a part is removed. You may also want to keep track of the shims that were used on the fenders for reference. Take picture and notes. You most likely will not be putting this back together for months and trying to remember what clips go where or order of assembly.

I drill a small hole thru hood hinges before removing so i have an easy way to align it when reassembling. Also take lots of pictures. And bag and tag everything.
