Greg I'd rather you stop and not fry your PC. I have an old XP PC but I'll have to dig it out and see where the virtual memory location is. Turning things on and off is probably not good.

Well, I did find out what it was first...I think anyway.... Don't want you to think I just picked something out of the air and removed it.
On my machine, it's a component of Spybot.

Quote:
"SpybotSD TeaTimer" can run at start up. TeaTimer is a new tool of Spybot S&D - spam filter which perpetually monitors the processes called/initiated. It immediately detects known malicious processes wanting to start and terminates them giving you some options, how to deal with this process in the future

TeaTimer is a component of Spybot S&D and perfectly safe but, a known resource hog .

You can disable it by doing the following:

To Disable Spybot's TeaTimer

Run Spybot and click Mode in the top menu
Select Advanced Mode.
Then expand the Tools selection in the left pane by clicking on it.
Now in the left pane Resident.
Now in the right window pane, uncheck TeaTimer. Keep the Resident "SDHelper" option checked

I like it. Very easy to use and it checks the health of your hard drive as well. I noticed today that my hard drive was much quieter than it has been in a while at start up. Seems to be working easier.
Like I said though, I'm a computer dummy. .
