Default Tin Indian Front Crankshaft Seal: Excellent Quality

We have had issues with front crankshaft seals leaking on the Boss Bird Nitro Funny car. I have used: Felpro, National, Timkin, and a few others. NONE of them would last more than 1 race without the rubber swelling and leaking past the seal. Bought 6 Tin Indian seals expecting to change them every race as usual. After 3 races, no sign of leakage or swelling in the seal. This is a double lip seal and must be made of a superior rubber material compared to the others I have used. If it works for us in the most extreme conditions, it will probably work well for everyone else out there. A quality product at a fair price. This is not a re-packaged part. It has the name "Tin Indian" in the outer rubber.

You guys using 98% nitromethane? For "normal" fuels (race gas, alky, small nitro percentages, etc.) the usual seals (National, et.al.) perform just fine.

I agree the other seals work fine in most applications. I had been having a harder and harder time just buying a front seal without a complete timing gasket set. Regular parts stores don't seem to carry them anymore. The Tin Indian one cost about the same or even less than the others and you can buy just the seal. That was my main reason for the post. A great seal for a regular price from a Pontiac vendor. Feel the same about the BOP rear seals. Also an excellent product.

Thanks for clarifying Mike. It just seemed to me that the guys who posted had missed your point about needing a seal compound that resists nitro.
