Default AC thermostat ?

I have this weird aftermarket set up on my truck that I did not get complete. My AC controls look like this with a small vent up top, not mine just a picture from the internet. The thermostatic switch that controls min-max air sits underneath it so does the fan switch. In the back of panel that I got from the local junkyard there was just a big vent hose that attaches to the back of AC controls. Will the thermostatic AC switch be affected by cold air being blown over it? Should I fab up some kind of narrow vent tube that just directs air through the vent or will this be affected at all?

AC air should be dry air. The evaporator should remove the humidity from the air going over it before it gets to your switch. That's why there is a drain tube from the evaporator housing to the outside of the car.
