Head gaskets thicker than 0.051 - do they exist?
Hey guys, as per the topic, the thickest cometic i've seen is 0.051" and the engine is at 10.3:1 compression with 0.040" h/gaskets and needs to come down a little more. A head change or piston change isn't possible right now but machining the chambers might be on the cards if a thicker gasket can't be done? (iron heads)
I could have sworn I saw up to 0.080-0.100" cometics in the past?? Any ideas? Kris |

The cometics are available in five thicknesses greater than .051".
The thickest is .120". Here is the list of available thickness. HTH. |

Just remember you start loosing the better effects of quench also, sometimes more than the compression drop helps. We tried years ago a 455 with the piston .100 down and a 0.039 gasket to use flat tops and a 69cc chamber. Ran good but was a pinging fool if not enough race gas.
