I drove the car the other day for the first time. It sounds great, and definitely picked up some performance over the garbage system that was on it.

Only if PYPES would address the fitment on the '77's-up, and the lousy tailpipes!

Very nice! Is this a Y-81?

I'm not very good at all these codes. Have you ever posted the PHS?

Also what's the story, Is that a W72 engine or just the valve covers? I ask because I see the shaker says 6.6 Litre when it should say T.A. 6.6 for a W72 car.

This car is a Y81 clone, black on black, factory W72 4 speed. When I bought it, it had the correct T/A 6.6 decals on the shaker. Since I am looking for more correct Bandit movie details, the 6.6 Litre decals were installed.

I shopped for several months to find a 4 speed real Y81 or Y82. After seeing multitudes of bondoed up perfumed pigs for $40k and up, I bought this for mid twenties, and put another $10k in it to get it where I was happy with it. This is a never rusted/repainted car, factory primer on the pans, fully numbers matching/correct down to the alternator and starter 42k documented miles.

It's so nice to see 7" ers. Everyone puts 8" ers on, I've grown to hate the 8" type.
Man, that is sweet.

That is exactly why I went with the 7". The 8" is a good looking wheel, but was not for me on this particular car. Made it look like a '78.

I am putting the 8" on my '73 Grand Am.

Oh come on man, the 8" Snowflake is one of the best looking wheels ever put on an American automobile. Don't be a hater.
Canammman, your car looks fantastic!

Thank you!

They are a fantastic looking wheel...arguably the best Pontiac ever offered. They just didn't feel right on this particular car. Fortunately, they are easy to swap back and forth if I want a change.

I always like the 8" flakes, you never saw them back in the day. I saw more rally's back in the day, like 8 lugs, you never saw them, now they are on every car. So are the 8's. I picked up a set of gold rally's a few years back , always wanted a set. I had steel painted gold with dog dish on for years, I liked them.

My A/C compressor had the all too common front oil seal failure, squirting a fine mist of messy refrigerant oil all over the engine compartment last summer. I purchased a reman A6 unit, installed it, drew a vacuum for a few hours, let it sit for a few hours to ensure no leaks, then filled the system with 60 ounces of good ole fashioned R12. All went well!

My A6 did that from day one. Old geezer salesman told me the stuff slinging off the belt was belt dressing they put on at the factory. I was only 18 at the time.
Had the seal replaced 2 times after warranty lapsed (of course). It never did completely quit leaking....wasn't this about the time when the car buying public turned to Jap cars, en mass?

Your car is awesome! I'm not going the restoration route on mine, but will be similar...
