Default power steering belt

I replaced my power steering belt p#(15495) with the same part number from my local auto parts store. The old belt had a lot of play in it, new belt seems to be worse. Has anyone been down this road before should I just try the next size smaller until I get one that fits snug.

Thanks as always

So the belt you replaced was not the right one to begin with one would have to guess!
So yes drop down to belt size 1/2" shorter!.

"a lot of play" cant you just adjust it tighter? or are you saying its at the max adjustment & still has play? if so, then it must have been the wrong belt or something else was change like the pulley etc. just look in the catalog or have the parts person look up the correct belt for your car/engine.

Smile Non-stock setup??

The factory PS belt should be either 49.5", 51.5" or 55.5" long, depending on engine and A/C or no A/C (according to RockAuto).

Your 15495 is ~49.5" long, and looks to be correct for the 6 cylinder with P/S. If it won't adjust tight enough, you probably need something at least 1" (or a bit more) shorter.

With so many pulleys available over the years, it's pretty common to have to go longer or shorter on the belts.

Good luck!
