Default 70 Grand Prix

I drug this '70 Grand Prix out of the dirt yesterday. It has been sitting since 1978 near as I can tell. It is a model J with power windows, am/fm, cruise, bench seat, and disc brakes. It has an XH 400 with 13 heads. I plan on putting in new points, plugs, oil change, and run some fresh gas through it and see if it will fire up. The car is actually pretty solid with the exception of the roof, it looks really poor. Someone along the line put a '67 GTO 4 speed quadrajet on this thing. Pretty neat old car.

I wouldn't mind driving it. I'm just trying to figure out why someone would park it after only 8 years. Something has to be wrong.

Mine was parked in 77. Who knows why it was parked. Make her run, clean up the top and paint it and drive her.

1978 was a lull in the gas crunch times. Prices were affordable, until the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

But, back then 8 years was 'old' for a car, maybe wanted to 'preserve' it?

I filed off the points, and poured some gas down it and it fired right up.

I found it south of Duncan, which is an hour south of OKC. I have been trying to buy this thing for about 8 years. Persistence finally paid off. Never hurts to have a few cars stashed in the pasture.

found a 69 bird similar to your story in a cotton field a few years ago. I had to rebuild the carb, put a starter on it, points and swap the coil wires. The coil was new and the wires were put on backward. It fired right up.

That is a cool '70 GP having a bench seat and all those power options. I wonder why the radiator hose is off the car? Who's '74 Grandville is that in the background?

I'm really not sure why the upper hose was off. I just stuck a new one on there and filled it up with some water. I wasn't expecting it to sound that great, but it actually surprised me and sounds pretty decent for sitting so many years.

The Grandville is another that I bought a couple years ago. It has a ton of options and is a 455 car. I am the second owner of it.

Arrow American Graffiti Milner?

Hey Milner... shouldn't you be driving a '32 Ford coupe? Nice ride, have lots of parts here if you have a need.

I guess I should be. This is the closest thing I have to a '32. It is actually a 31 model on deuce rails. I thought about painting it yellow and sticking in a 327 chevy with 4 deuces, but I cant make myself put a small block chevy in it.
