Default 8.2 rear end ???

I have an 8.2 nonposi from a 65 Lemans ,10 bolt. I want to make it a posi. I know a guy with a 3:90 posi unit he was going to put in his 72 Lemans but now wants to sale. It was a 10 bolt also.

My rear end is probably a 3:23 . Will this 3:90 assembly fit my rear end housing??? He says he has everthing to make the conversion. I just do not want to buy something only to find out it will not fit. HELP>>>>

That posi carrier won't work for 3.23 gears. IIRC, anything over 3.36 requires a different carrier.

If you swap in the whole thing: gears, carrier, posi, it will work. If you want to use your gears, it won't work, as stated above. The 3.23 gear requires a different carrier...There are 3 different carriers: 2 series, 3 series, and 4 series. For the 3.23 gear, you need the 3 series...it will work with 2.93, 3.08, and 3.23 gears.
